Child Molestation, How To Fight It

Child Molestation is rife around the world.  As much as we would love to stop it and stamp it out, it is insidious.  There are people from all walks of life who can be child molesters. There is not a country on this planet that does not have molestation victims.

Around the world there are those who would do their best to try to put an end to child molestation without success.  Organisations, governments, governmental offices eg police or task forces specifically designed for the purpose.

As much as we do not want to admit it, child molestation is here to stay. Because of human  nature, it can be reduced, but never eliminated.  Before you jump up and down and say I’m wrong, think about this.

Government officials would have us believe that most pedophiles are to be found trading pictures on the internet. This is far from an accurate picture.  In fact it is so far from the truth, it is dangerous. They would also have you believe that it is the predator stranger that holds the greatest danger, however 90% of all child sex abuse is perpetrated by someone the child knows quite well, a family member, a family friend or a person trusted by the family.

Child molesting was around long before the internet, and there is no evidence to suggest it is on the rise. It is a pernicious and enduring threat that has continued for many millenia. Only the speaking out against it, is a recent phenomena. The problem is NOT child pornography. Although they are related, if you were able to completely eradicate child pornography, it would have very little impact on child molestation figures.

Since government law enforcement can hold a hard drive or picture in their hand and say "here, see this" it becomes a much simpler target than finding and prosecuting those who actually hurt the children. Whilst we have no sympathy for those convicted of child pornography, we focus here on the more serious issue of actual abuse. At the moment, governments around the world are taking this easy way out rather than tackling the really insidious problem of protecting the children.

To eradicate child molestation, every parent would have to be vigilant in the protection of their children.  Every teacher would have to be vigilant, every person on this planet would have to be focused on eradicating it.  Of course this is an impossibility, and is in itself ridiculous as there are parents, teachers, priests, judges, lawyers, police,  and every other profession and type of person that are child molesters.

Some of the very people put in positions to eradicate child molestation are in fact child molesters themselves.

Even though it can’t be stopped, we can fight it and do our best to minimize it.  We can also help those that have been molested.  All of us can help them cope with the problems they face on a daily basis.  If you know someone who has been the victim of child molestation than do your part in helping them through it.  Whether they be family, friend, workmate, acquaintance, church member, someone you’ve met at your child’s school, show them compassion and realize that their life is difficult.

Direct them to this site as many of the problems they face, are addressed here. Just because someone is an adult now does not mean they can forget about their abuse and move on.  They will be facing more pain as they get older if they do not get help.

It will help you understand what child molestation is about, and how the molestation affects it’s victims and their families.  If you are a victim, it will help you deal with the effects you suffer on a constant basis.

Remember too, the more knowledge that is out there, the more pressure it applies to child molesters and in fact this will help reduce the problem itself. Not eradicate, but reduce. The more people understand just how prevalent it really is and how it is not the odd kidnapping stranger that is really the danger, the more difficult it will be to keep those doors closed.
